We first bought into Reading Planet for Early Years and Key Stage 1 in 2017 and use the books in whole class reading sessions. We have recently ordered the Key Stage 2 books, with a view to using these with children in groups, for intervention in addition to their whole class reading provision. The books are user-friendly and great quality. We have a lot of resources to support our teaching of reading and we were drawn to the high quality of the Reading Planet books. It's hard to say whether progress can be attributed to any particular resource but for access to quality reading books, there isn't anything else out there at the moment that compares.

When we were first looking at the Reading Planet scheme, the speech rhythm activities were one of the thinks that drew our interest and we build these into every lesson in Early Years.

We use Read Write Inc for phonics input and the Rocket Phonics books work well with our phonics teaching. We also like the Galaxy fiction and non-fiction and the new Key Stage 2 fiction titles - the quality of stories is excellent and the non-fiction supports our direction of travel with reading to support knowledge.

We are in the process of setting up children with access to the Online Library. This resource will be shared with parents and carers at Parents’ evening this term.
