Learn about successful strategies used by schools to improve KS2 maths results.  Presented by mastery maths expert Steve Lomax, the course looks at the most effective ways to embed a deep understanding of the maths curriculum. It focuses on Years 3, 4 and 5 as accounting for 50% of the content which could appear in the National Curriculum Tests (SATs), and provides proven approaches that enable students to develop a strong foundational knowledge from an early age.

  • Teaching for secure and deep understanding - ‘mastery’ - in Years 3, 4 and 5 will improve outcomes at the end of KS2.

  • All strategies shared throughout the day have worked in schools to raise KS2 Maths standards, such as Expected standard from 17% to 81% (50% pupil premium), Greater Depth from 30% to 57%, Special Measures to Outstanding in 3.5 years.

  • Strengthen subject knowledge through practising your delivery of core teaching techniques such as the CPA approach and bar modelling.
