We were particularly looking for ways in which we could add depth and challenge to our maths lessons. Rising Stars Mathematics gives a wealth of such opportunities which help to supplement the reasoning which takes place in school, and underpins a mastery curriculum. As reasoning and problem solving is now 2/3 of the curriculum, it is vital that we have a reliable and well-researched source of relevant activities.
Rising Stars Mathematics also fits in very well with our school policy of moving from concrete to pictorial and onto abstract concepts. The scheme of work provides many ideas for concrete manipulatives and pictorial models which help to scaffold work until learners become more secure and can move onto abstract concepts.
