In the a world free from levels, schools are looking for new ways to track pupil progress during the primary years and ensure that as many children as possible reach or exceed what is expected by the end of each key stage.

Rising Stars has worked with curriculum and assessment experts to produce rigorous Progression Frameworks that help teachers cover the requirements of the new curriculum and ensure children are on track to meet end-of-year and key stage expectations.

The Progression Frameworks show how the key ideas and skills develop in each year or key stage and build on earlier learning. 

Progression statements are given for each year group or key stage, covering all the expectations of the new programmes of study. Statements are clearly organised so that teachers can see how pupils are expected to progress.

What to look for guidance

Each progression statement is accompanied by three ‘what to look for’ guidance notes that enable teachers to evaluate individual pupil’s progress against the statement and to identify the next steps in learning. These are:

  • Working towards expectations (WTE)
  • Meeting expectations (ME)
  • Exceeding expectations (EE)

There are links to the NAHT’s Key Performance Indicators for English and mathematics which makes it easy for schools using these to find the associating ‘What to look for’ guidance.

Fully editable

The frameworks are fully editable so that schools can adapt them to meet their own needs, for example to create pupil progress records or My Target sheets.
