11.30am Cracking the Code 1: Sample activities from Switched on Computing Years 1-3
  • Basic programming with programmable devices.  Unit 1.1 – ‘We are treasure hunters’
  • Simple algorithms in Scratch Jr - Unit 2.1 - ‘We are astronauts’
  • Computational thinking in Unit 3.2 – ‘We are bug fixers’

12.30pm Lunch
1.30pm Cracking the Code 2: Sample activities from Switched on Computing Years 4-6
  • Unplugged and ready to go: Explore practical, ‘unplugged’ activities to support computer science linked to the Key Stage Switched on Computing units
  • An overview of Unit 5.2 – ‘We are cryptographers’ and Unit 6.2 – ‘We are computational thinkers’

2.30pm Afternoon tea
2.45pm Are your pupils digitally literate?
  • Consider how Switched on Computing can assist pupils in becoming digitally literate with a focus on Unit 2.4 ‘We are researchers’ and Unit 4.5 ‘We are co-authors’
