Reading Planet was launched in 2016. We were keen to understand the impact of adopting Reading Planet on children's attitudes towards reading.

Since publication, we have worked closely with schools to understand and evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme in supporting reading in schools. 

Reading Planet trialled with 600 pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in 10 schools.

Reading Planet trialled with more than 900 pupils in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 in 8 schools.

Further qualitative in-depth feedback from 5 schools.

Impact Study Highlights

We asked 5 schools to respond to Impact Statements about Reading Planet. All 5 'completely agreed' that:

  • Since adopting Reading Planet, levels of engagement have improved.

  • Children relate to the stories and make connections between their own experiences and those in the book they are reading.

  • Since adopting Reading Planet, they've seen an improvement in children’s use of vocabulary.
