On 5th September 2019, the DfE announced that more pupils in England are reaching the highest standard of reading, writing and maths in this years SATs.
In summary:

65% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths (combined)

11% of pupils reached the higher standard in reading, writing and maths (combined)

85% of pupils who met the phonics standard in KS1 attained the expected standard in KS2
-
The attainment gap has decreased by 13% since 2011 between disadvantaged pupils and their peers
