Computing Hour

With ICT now changing to Computing from 2014 a great place to go to for inspiration and ideas is #computinghour.  This takes place on twitter, every Thursday from 9pm-10pm.  The website Computing Hour highlights tweets and links to other useful resources.  Last Thursday there were a lot of useful results for those interested in extending their computing knowledge, I have listed some of these below:

From @kvnmcl:

A blog post about Stencyl -  which can be used as an alternative to scratch can be found here

Javascript programming with a monster can be found at http://www.crunchzilla.com/code-monster

An online course for children to find out more about app inventor for android can be found here

Tynker is a free platform designed to teach kids programming, you can watch a video tour here

Other useful resources that were mentioned were:

Alternatives to Scratch can be found on this wiki here

Also a crowd sourced curriculum can also be found on the digital leaders network here

It is a great chat with lots of useful resources - either join in, follow the stream or just lurk but it would be worth logging into twitter and searching the hashtag #computinghour
