2018 Assessment & Reporting Arrangements and Teacher Assessment Exemplification

This week the DfE have released teacher assessment exemplification materials for 2017/2018, guidance for the end of year KS1 and KS2 assessments, and guidance for assessing and reporting the early years foundation stage (EYFS) profile.
 


Key Changes to 2018 Assessment and Reporting Arrangements


Early Years

Key Stage 1

  • KS1 English grammar, punctuation and spelling tests remain option from 2018 onwards.

  • Revised English teacher assessment frameworks from the STA place greater emphasis on grammar, punctuation and spelling and create less prescriptive ‘pupil can’ statements.

Key Stage 2

  • English grammar, punctuation and spelling will be the first KS2 assessment on 14th May, followed by English Writing on 15th May.

  • The STA have revised English Writing teacher assessment frameworks which place greater emphasis on the composition and ‘technical’ aspects of English writing (including grammar, punctuation and spelling).
