Computing specialist and consultant James Fraser shares his tips for free computing activities you can do with your kids at home. 

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, parents up and down the country are currently homeschooling their children for the first time. Here are some brilliant TV shows, podcasts and YouTube channels that can help to support your child’s independent learning at this time.

When the Key Stage 2 Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling papers were introduced in 2016, everybody was surprised by the subject knowledge expected from year 6 children. However, over the years, schools have developed detailed units of work to ensure that children have the knowledge and understanding of this key area.

It can be too easy to start thinking about all the things we can’t do or the people we can’t to see, but when you turn it around and think about the positive it has a really strong effect on how positive you feel and really helps us to feel happy.

Remote working for a longer period of time than anyone is used to or was prepared for, has and will continue to create challenges, so the team at RS Assessment from Hodder Education have put together some of their own simple tips and tricks that have helped them at home and might help make things a little easier for you too:

Although the SATs may not be taking place this year, while children are continuing their education at home, we’ve compiled our top tips to help pupils improve their reading skills. This will not only allow them to continue improving their skills but will also prepare them for progression to year 7.

Although the Key Stage 2 SATs may no longer be taking place this year during to the Covid-19 outbreak, it’s still great practice to continue with revision while your pupils are at home. Not only will it mean pupils can continue their learning journey but they will also be ready and prepared for year 7 when they return to school.
