On 30th March 2017, the Department for Education launched consultations on the future of assessment in primary schools and on assessing primary school children working below the standard of the national tests.
Primary Assessment Consultation
This consultation seeks views on statutory and non-statutory primary assessment and the implications for accountability. The proposed changes, which you can read here, include:
- making key stage 1 tests optional
- establishing a new baseline assessment for reception
- improving the early years foundation stage profile
- reducing teacher assessment.
The consultation into primary assessment will run for 12 weeks and you can respond here.
