Everyone's been talking about the new Expected Standard in writing following the release of the eagerly anticipated exemplification materials from the DfE. These materials were published to support accurate teacher assessment at the end of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in 2016. Each collection exemplifies one child’s writing that meets the requirements for all the statements within the interim teacher assessment framework for one of the following standards:
working towards the expected standard
working at the expected standard
working at greater depth within the expected standard.
Many schools have told us that they are concerned about the new Expected Standard and the implications for teaching, so we asked two of our curriculum and assessment experts to share their feedback.
