Unit 6.3 introduction: We are game developers

Creating an adventure game

About this unit

Software:    Microsoft PowerPoint ® (or other multimedia authoring tool that permits hyperlinks from objects: Scratch can be used, as might Flash, for very able children)

Outcome:   A collection of linked slides composed mainly of images, together with animations, video and sound, with interactive hotspots

Do the children in your class enjoy playing computer games? Do any of them play adventure games in which they can explore a world, collecting clues and solving problems? Perhaps you remember the Fighting Fantasy adventure game books, in which the story that unfolded was determined by the reader’s choice? In this unit, children create their own multimedia adventure, using some of Microsoft PowerPoint ®’s multimedia and hypertext capabilities
