The Standards and Testing Agency have communicated to schools that teachers must still carry out the early years foundation stage profile assessment for children in reception.
The STA has said that schools should continue to complete the early years foundation stage profile (EYFSP) in the summer term, and that this would enable them to "take time to review options for assessment in the reception year beyond 2016 to 2017". A DfE spokesperson said that the decision was not a long-term policy change, but merely a delay.
