Realising the potential of technology in education

On 4th April 2019, the DfE published a new strategy to develop and embed technology within schools.  In the document, Damian Hinds, Secretary of State for Education, stated:

"I believe technology can be an effective tool to help reduce teacher workload, increase efficiencies, engage students and communities, and provide tools to support excellent teaching and raise student attainment." - Damian Hinds, Secretary of State for Education

To support the use of technology in education, the DfE are proposing to:

  • Secure digital infrastructure by rolling out improved internet connectivity to schools most in need
  • Launch a network of 'demonstrator schools' to provide support and training
  • Support LearnEd, BESA's regional roadshows, to showcase digital products and services
  • Support an online lending library allowing educators to 'try before they buy' through BESA's online LendEd service
  • Promoting digital safety by providing guidance on data security and cyber security
