On 4th April 2019, the DfE published a new strategy to develop and embed technology within schools. In the document, Damian Hinds, Secretary of State for Education, stated:
"I believe technology can be an effective tool to help reduce teacher workload, increase efficiencies, engage students and communities, and provide tools to support excellent teaching and raise student attainment." - Damian Hinds, Secretary of State for Education
To support the use of technology in education, the DfE are proposing to:
- Secure digital infrastructure by rolling out improved internet connectivity to schools most in need
- Launch a network of 'demonstrator schools' to provide support and training
- Support LearnEd, BESA's regional roadshows, to showcase digital products and services
- Support an online lending library allowing educators to 'try before they buy' through BESA's online LendEd service
- Promoting digital safety by providing guidance on data security and cyber security
