Principles and practices of effective homework

Homework can have quite a negative reputation.  It is often the source of familial tension as parents make sure their little ones have done it, not to mention the effect on workload of teachers. When it is done well, homework can undoubtedly have a positive effect on learning.  The EEF states that effective homework is associated with short, focused tasks which relate directly to what is being taught and is built upon in school.  It also recognises the importance of parental involvement.  With these conditions in mind, here is a set of principles and practices for making homework as effective as possible. Computing Assessment Tasks - an invaluable addition to our computing toolkit

We are all now familiar with the Computing curriculum – terms that were not part of our vocabulary a couple of years ago are now commonplace: coding, digital literacy and online safety are now all an integral part of the computing curriculum and vocabulary across the curriculum.
Assessment, however, has taken longer to embed for many. Rising Stars has produced a range of tasks to help teachers with computing assessment in the form of tasks for Years 1 -6. These tasks are designed to give teachers the means of formatively assessing children’s programming and computing skills, as well as understanding of concepts and thinking skills.
