NACE, National Association for Able Children in Education and Rising Stars invite you to a series of practical one-day CPD workshops for Primary Teachers and Gifted and Talented Co-ordinators.
Mathematics for the More Able
Tutor: Sue Lowndes
I came away from it feeling revitalised and confident about teaching maths to my class.
Bristol course delegate
This one-day course has been created to give delegates practical, hands-on training in supporting more able pupils in mathematics. The training sessions will use the renowned Brain Academy range of resources for able, gifted and talented pupils and will give you a host of ideas and tools to take back to use in your school.
The sessions will provide teachers with practical advice on how to engage and extend children in mathematics and in particular how to support the more able (regardless of teachers' confidence in maths themselves).
Includes FREE set of Brain Academy Supermaths books worth £60 for every delegate

1. Using and applying maths: increase your understanding of the key principles of mathematical proble solving, communication, reasoning, proof and logic.
2. Algebra: see how deeper understanding of algebraic function underpins exploratory learning and problem solving.
3. Place value and number bases: a focus on how forming new links between concepts can be used to create particular challenge.
4. Shape and space: activities to enable learners to predict and make suggestions that will stretch and extend their thinking.
